ATLANTA (WXIA) -- A MARTA police officer received a minor injury while trying to apprehend a couple of robbery suspects outside the H.E. Holmes MARTA Station in southwest Atlanta Thursday evening.
Around 6 p.m, two men tried to rob a transit rider in the parking lot of the station, according to spokesman Lyle Harris of MARTA. Harris said at least two MARTA police officers chased the would-be robbers out of the parking lot, and across Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive SW to the busy Gordon Plaza strip mall at Peyton Road. That's where one of the men shot at the officers.
Harris said no bullets struck anyone, but something did graze one of the officers near an eye. The officer was transported to Grady Hospital, treated and released. At this time, Harris said he does not believe either of the officers fired any shots.
