Mega Millions 'springs forward' to $171M

ATLANTA -- Mega Millions sprang forward with your clocks this weekend.

Tuesday's jackpot has jumped to an estimated $171 million, the Georgia Lottery announced Monday.

Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options -- approximately $6.5 million a year for 26 years with the annuity choice, or a single payment worth approximately $124 million.

Tickets are only $1 per play. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.

Who knows -- maybe you could be the next Marcia Adams, the College Park accountant who won $72 million in a January Mega Millions drawing.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions benefit education in the state.

Midget gets promoted at Georgia State

ATLANTA--Anthony Midget, who has served as Georgia State's secondary coach and special teams coordinator since 2008, has been elevated to defensive coordinator, head coach Bill Curry announced Friday.

Midget, a former all-American defensive back at Virginia Tech and an Atlanta Falcons draft pick, was a member of the original coaching staff that Curry put together when the program began in 2008. He replaces John Thompson, who left GSU two weeks ago for the defensive coordinator position at FBS program Arkansas State.

Midget, 34, will also coach safeties, and Curry will hire a position coach to round out the defensive staff. Spring practice will begin March 14 as scheduled.

Videotaped beating victim denies knowing attackers

ATLANTA - It's been more than a month since a videotaped attack in an Atlanta community gained national attention.

Brandon White, 20, was attacked by three young men in the Pittsburgh community on February 4th. The incident was captured on a cell phone camera and showed the men jumping White as he came out of a grocery store. Two days later, that video was posted on a national gossip website.

But was Brandon White's attack more than a random hate crime?

According to Jay Abt, attorney for Dorian Moragne, one of the suspects seen in the video - it was.

"Apparently one of the individuals  that attacked him was having gay sex, and did not be known in the community as being gay," he said.

"There was some indication that Brandon White was going to out one of these individuals," Abt said. "If White was beaten up because he threatened to out another member of the LGBT community, then it's not a hate crime."
