Adair Park neighborhood cleanup, Saturday, March 24

Adair Park neighborhood cleanup, Saturday, March 24

Adair Park -  Jay Melton, President of 'Adair Park Today', sent out a letter to the community about a neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, March 24 from 9am to 12pm.

Just wanted to inform you that Adair Park Today is organizing a neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, March 24 from 9am to 12pm.

We are going to meet at Adair Park II in the parking lot at Gillette and Tift Avenues at 8:30am for breakfast. We will split up into groups with captains and head to the assigned areas. We will have two vehicles with trailers designated for trash and tire pickup to bring everything back to the parking lot.

We plan on cleaning the entire historic district from Shelton to Lexington, Allene and Murphy to Metropolitan.

The City of Atlanta is providing a dumpster for our use. We hope to have 20-25 neighbors along with some volunteers, all we are asking people to bring are gloves and sunscreen.

Jubilant jackpots: Mega Millions $173M, Powerball $125M

Jubilant jackpots: Mega Millions $173M, Powerball $125M

ATLANTA – As the holidays near and sugar plum fairies jig, massive jackpots from Mega Millions and Powerball will add to this weekend’s magical moments.

Friday’s $173 million Mega Millions jackpot is especially green, while Saturday’s $125 million Powerball jackpot is merry and bright.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing produced four $10,000 winners with tickets purchased in Midland, Columbus, Marietta and Warner Robins. One player, Eddie Hall of Leesburg, won $250,000 in Tuesday’s drawing with his ticket purchased at Lee Pub, 1561 U.S. Highway 195, Leesburg.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since Nov. 4, rolling 14 times. Powerball has rolled nine times since Nov. 23.

It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions and Powerball for a chance to unwrap an enchanted jubilee. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier and Power Play options for an additional $1 per play.

BEST SPOTS: Labor Day Staycations

BEST SPOTS: Labor Day Staycations

ATLANTA -- Due to recent instability in the United States economy, many people are opting to stay in town for the Labor Day holiday. Vacations like these or “staycations” have become more popular since high oil prices have forced gas prices to top out at, sometimes, more than $4.00 per gallon.

According to an article by CNNMoney, the steady decline of gas prices could result in an increase in “last-minute” holiday travel. However, for those who want to stay in town and get their most “bang for their buck” there are plenty of choices near the Atlanta area to "take a load off" and relax.

Some Atlantans will choose to head out to the lake, Laek Lanier, for their Labor Day vacation.
