Fulton County, community partners to host a 'Family and Teacher Resource Fair'

ATLANTA -- Fulton County’s Housing and Human Services Department, Office of Children and Youth, Metro Lanes and Games and MEG (Music Education Group), will host a “Family & Teacher Resource Fair,” Saturday, August 17, 2013.

The day is dedicated to offering community resources to parents and fun for youth between six and 18-years old. The Family & Teacher Resource Fair will include the participation of members of the Fulton County Youth Commission, an initiative promoted by Fulton County Commissioner Joan P. Garner and the Board of Commissioners.

Resource Fair registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with the event beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 2:00 p.m. Metro Lanes and Games is located at 1959 Metropolitan Parkway.

The Family & Teacher Resource Fair offers more than the distribution of school supplies. Resource providers will be present to help parents to identify afterschool care and other extracurricular activities to help children avoid the temptations and dangers of alcohol, drugs, sex, crime and violence. Participating organizations specialize in life skills, parenting, youth development and more to help youth to resist temptations that could result in poverty, disease or incarceration.

This extraordinary event will serve both students and their parent(s) with opportunities to learn personal development skills and gain FREE resources and information essential for family stability.   During the event, students will enjoy a diverse selection of activities, including skating, bowling, basketball tournaments, games, talent showcase, good food and much more. The Family and Teacher Resource Fair will take place within a safe and well-chaperoned environment.

Other supporting sponsors of the event include V103, Regis Corporation, Elasta QP, Haute Behavior, Wellcare, Walmart and the NFL Players Association.
