Murder victim's mother makes plea for help
News

ATLANTA -- Three years after her son was murdered Jalonda Watson is making a plea for help to find his killer. Rontavius Watson, 26, was shot and killed police don't know much more than what they learned when it first happened.

Watson died just before his son Javon's fourth birthday. The boy
'
s grandmother said even at four, Javon asked questions about his father being gone.
"
He wanted to know why it was that he had to be taken,
"
Jalonda Watson said.
"
That's hard to answer because nobody has the answer to that. Only the person that did it.
"

And that has been the source of her consternation over the past three years since her son died. The person that killed Rontavius Watson has not been caught.

On March 14, 2012, Rontavius pulled into a Chevron station at 2050 Sylvan Road, got out of the car and fell to the ground and died. He was shot in the neck.

'
He couldn't have drove too far,
"
said Lt. Charles Hampton.
"
We believe it was a couple blocks away where he was shot and received his injuries.
"

That
'
s all Jalonda Watson knows, leaving her with few answers for her grandson.
"
He didn
'
t deserve to be killed,
"
she said.
"
He didn't deserve to be taken away from his family. I'm just asking for someone to come forward with information that would bring closure to myself and to his son.
"

Police said they are looking at crimes that took place prior to Watson's death to see if there is a connection to his killing. There is a $2,000 reward being offered for information by Crime Stoppers.
