Another arrest made in death of man escaping home intruders


ATLANTA -- Another arrest has been made in the death of a man who jumped from his third-story condo trying to escape home intruders.

Police said Jose Greer, 51, died after he jumped from a balcony on December 18, 2015. Authorities said Greer had gone on the balcony after three men kicked in the door to his condo on Oak Street.

Greer fell onto a concrete sidewalk suffering a broken pelvis, broken arms and several other fractures. He died six hours later at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Atlanta police find missing child


ATLANTA -- A missing child has been brought home safely, Atlanta police report.

Tyrcee Laster, 8, was last seen while leaving the Oakland City Park with a friend around 5 p.m., Thursday.

He's described as a black male who is about three to four feet tall and is between 50 and 60 pounds.

He has a black Mohawk-style haircut with gold tips. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded shirt a black shirt, black sweatpants and blue and gray tennis shoes.

For neighbors in Ashview Heights, it only took about 20 volunteers and two hours on a chilly Monday morning to find out.

Store seeks permanent liquor license in gang-prone area


ATLANTA -- Residents in an area police say is prone to gang recruitment are speaking out against a store's attempt to get a permit to sell alcohol. 

Fair Street Supermarket is in a neighborhood where Atlanta Police Sgt. Archie Ezell told 11Alive's Blayne Alexander gang members try to recruit young kids.  Ezell said in that area alone, at least three different gangs actively vie for members. Last November, Ezell showed Alexander the graffiti covering one side of the supermarket, pointing to that corner as one of the biggest gang recruitment areas in the city.

Police release video of vehicle of interest in teen murder


ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police have released new information in the investigation surrounding the murder of a 15-year-old boy. 

Preston Lewis was found at the intersection of Holderness Street and Greenwich near I-20 on December 27. He died from a gunshot wound. 

At the time of the murder, police released few details.

 

Police are seeking to identify the driver or any occupants of the vehicle.

Man shot 3 times in southwest Atlanta


ATLANTA -- Atlanta police are investigating in southwest Atlanta after a man was shot three times.

The incident happened in the 1700 block of Campbellton Road SW. The victim was shot in the chest and stomach, police said.

At this point, officials are unsure of whether he was the victim of a robbery or another crime.

Teen girl shot in back during attempted home invasion


ATLANTA -- A teenage girl is in the hospital with a gunshot wound after an apparent home invasion attempt in Atlanta, Saturday.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. in  the 400 block of Fairburn Road.
